Little Shoes Project-The Second Wave.
The Little Shoes Project was initially launched in August 2009 and yielded a generous sum of profit, in which all went
to the Rotaract Club in Botswana to provide footwear for children. Continuing the dignified effort, Rotaract Club of ATC launched the Little Shoe Project again this year on the 8th October.
The Little Shoes Project hosts the objective to promote footwear awareness to the public with regards to the importance of shoes. Shoes, regarded as basic essentials of life have not been thoroughly appreciated, since most of us have been living in the luxury of having more than one pair of shoes.
However, as for the children in Africa, they are less fortunate and are deprived of such basic necessities in life. Everyday, they walk barefoot to obtain basic supplies such as food, water and even to school. To them, shoes are luxury items as they could not be able to afford shoes with the amount of money they have. Due to this matter, many of them contact diseases such as hookwarm disease, strongyloidiasis, podoconiosis and elephanticisis . Each year, 500 children die and other 200 are slowly playing with death.
Today, Rotaract Club of ATC, by virtue of launching the Little Shoe Project is lending a hand by selling key chains to raise funds for the African Children. A little effort like this can go a long way. The price of a single keychain is RM8. Our helpful and kind lecturers and students did not hesitate in spending their money to buy key chains to share our
mission in helping the African people.
On the other hand, our theme for our 3rd Installation Charity Night was Best Shoes in collaboration with this project. The collaboration of the project into the dinner was to reinstate the cause and in due course, raise funds for the concerned. The Little Shoe Project is an ongoing project by the Rotaract club of ATC. All proceedings of funds go to
Africa to purchase footwear for children.
